If you’ve kept up on health news for the past decade you know that chronic inflammation is now considered to be the primary cause of many diseases.

inflammation causing disease If I asked you how you control inflammation, you might say take aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Alleve). Or if you believe in a more natural approach you might say take fish oil or curcumin.

You are also going to start hearing about the benefits of specific electromagnetic frequencies to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

(Background:  Electromagnetic frequencies (radio, microwave, visible light) are the basis of telecommunication in our modern age.  Surprising research now shows that in addition to nerve signals, our body uses pulsing microcurrents and magnetic waves for vital inter-cellular communications.)

Research into the health benefits of specific electromagnetic frequencies began way back in the early 1900’s when thousands of medical doctors and osteopathic physicians used electromagnetic frequencies to treat patients.

One frequency that was widely used in the early 1900’s by these doctors was 40 Hertz.  Way back then 40 Hz was discovered to reduce inflammation.

40 Hertz brain waves

40 Hertz falls in the range of gamma waves in the brain.  Gamma wave activity in the brain is beneficial in many ways.

Gamma waves are associated with the “feeling of blessings” reported by experienced meditators, such as monks and nuns. They are the fastest brainwave frequency with the smallest amplitude and are also associated with peak concentration and high levels of cognitive functioning.(1)

Neuroscientists believe that gamma waves coordinate and integrate information coming from all parts of the brain.

Gamma waves originate in the thalamus and moves from the back of the brain to the front and back again 40 times per second. This rapid “full sweep” action makes the gamma state one of peak mental and physical performance. Gamma is the brainwave state of being “in the zone.”

Everyone has gamma brainwave activity, but the amount of gamma wave activity varies. Low amounts of gamma brainwave activity have been linked to learning difficulties, poor memory and impaired mental processing.

40 Hz, Inflammation and Alzheimer’s

Chronic inflammation has been strongly associated with brain damage, general dementia and Alheimer’s dementia.

The frequency 40 Hertz was identified by thousands of doctors in the early 1900’s as beneficial in treating inflammatory states.

Now, researchers have found that when a genetically bred group of Alzheimer’s mice is treated with 40 Hertz frequencies, the brain markers of Alzheimer’s are dramatically reduced.

40 Hertz reverses Alzheimer’s in mice

The journal Nature recently reported on a research study that used 40 Hz pulsing light and sound frequencies on mice with Alzheimer’s.

The article was titled How flashing lights and pink noise might banish Alzheimer’s, improve memory and more.  Neuroscientists are getting excited about non-invasive procedures to tune the brain’s natural oscillations. (2)

Explaining the experiment the author described the experimental setup for the mice as a mini disco (strobing lights).

mouse discoQuoted from the Nature article:

“In March 2015, Li-Huei Tsai set up a tiny disco for some of the mice in her laboratory. For an hour each day, she placed them in a box lit only by a flickering strobe.

The mice — which had been engineered to produce plaques of the peptide amyloid-β in the brain, a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease — crawled about curiously. When Tsai later dissected them, those that had been to the mini dance parties had significantly lower levels of plaque than mice that had spent the same time in the dark.

Tsai, a neuroscientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, says she checked the result; then checked it again. “For the longest time, I didn’t believe it,” she says. Her team had managed to clear amyloid from part of the brain with a flickering light.

The strobe was tuned to 40 hertz and was designed to manipulate the rodents’ brainwaves, triggering a host of biological effects that eliminated the plaque-forming proteins.

Although promising findings in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease have been notoriously difficult to replicate in humans, the experiment offered some tantalizing possibilities. “The result was so mind-boggling and so robust, it took a while for the idea to sink in, but we knew we needed to work out a way of trying out the same thing in humans,” Tsai says..”

What does 40 Hertz and healing Alzheimer’s in mice have to do with you and your health?

brain frequency40 Hertz is already being used in alternative medicine to treat many inflammatory conditions.  For us this research is just confirmation of what we are already seeing in treating patients with 40 Hertz and other healing frequencies.

40 Hertz has also been shown to reduce inflammation in nerves, tendons, ligaments, muscles, skin, and in other tissues and organs.
