shingles

Non-Pharmacologic Treatment of Shingles

Case Report: “Shingles pain and lesions resolved in 48 hours after treatment with frequency-specific microcurrent.” Published in Practical Pain Management, May, 2010.

cytokine interleukin 1 drops in fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia secondary to cervical trauma

This study, entitled “Cytokine changes with microcurrent treatment of
fibromyalgia associated with cervical spine trauma” concludes:
“In a retrospective study based on analysis of subjective VAS pain scores for 54 patients, symptoms of fibromyalgia following cervical spine trauma were successfully treated with microamperage current.” Inflamatory cytokines — chemicals associated with inflammation in the body — were shown to drop signifcantly following FSM treatments.

neck pain

Myofascial Pain

This study, entitled “Microcurrent Treatment of Myofascial Pain in the Head, Neck and Face” The author reports treating 128 “simple” cases of myofascial pain in various body regions uncomplicated by disc injury, neuropathy, or severe arthridities. Of the 128 patients, 126 reported pain reduction from an average 5- 8/10 range to 3-4/10 range.

muscle fibrosis 1

Radiation-Induced Fibrosis In Head-and-Neck Cancer Patients

Radiation therapy causes damage to tissues which then scar. Scarring can result in loss of motion and chronic pain. This study reports that at the end of the course of microcurrent therapy, 92% of the 26 patients exhibited improved cervical
rotation, 85% had improved cervical extension/flexion, and 81% had improved cervical lateral flexion. In addition, subjective complaints like pain also improved.

macular degeneration

Macular Degeneration – Wet and Dry

This study is titled “Microcurrent stimulation in the treatment of dry and wet macular degeneration”.
The study concludes that: “the changes observed indicate the potential efficacy of microcurrent to delay degeneration and possibly improve age-related macular degeneration, both wet and dry”.

peripheral neuropathy symptoms

Peripheral Neuropathy

In this study, entitled “Nonpharmacologic Treatment of Neuropathic Pain Using Frequency Specific Microcurrent” 20 patients with peripheral neuropathies were treated with FSM.
Of the 20 patients treated, 65% fully recovered from nerve pain. 25% terminated care for unknown reasons. One patient was referred for additional treatment via a steroid injection. Another patient was given an FSM unit for self treatment at home and also recovered after the study.

low back pain

Low Back Pain

This study, entitled “Microcurrent therapy: a novel treatment method for chronic low back myofascial pain”, FSM was used to treat 22 patients with chronic low back pain. In 90% of these patients, other treatment modalities including drug therapy, chiropractic manipulation, physical therapy, naturopathic treatment and acupuncture had failed to produce the benefits achieved with FSM treatments.
