How a chiropractor (Dr. Mittag) recovered from 30 years of chronic low back and leg pain in 8 weeks using Frequency Specific Microcurrent
This is my personal account of how frequency specific microcurrent helped me to recover from a 30 year bout of chronic low back and leg pain. For me it was also a lesson in not thinking that you know all there is to know. Fortunately even after 33 years of treating patients with acute and chronic pain I was still open to new therapies and pain solutions.
I had received a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University. I also was certified to practice acupuncture. I owned two clinics in the Minneapolis suburbs where he treated patients for 33 years. As a post grad I studied nutrition and functional medicine, including two years of formal study through the National Board of Chiropractic Nutrition.
During all that time in practice I suffered from chronic low back and leg pain.
Dr. Harlan Mittag, DC
At times, it had gotten really bad. A couple times I ended up in the Emergency Room. One time, I was sobbing I was in so much pain. Two different MRI scans revealed a severely herniated disc pressing on the left S1 nerve root.
As a chiropractor, I did what I knew to do to help myself. I was able to manage it with self treatment and natural anti-inflammatories, but I still needed to be careful not to lift anything too heavy. And I couldn’t sit too long in front of the computer or my left leg would start to ache. That was the state I was in when I went for my first FSM treatment.
After seven treatments during and eight week period I was dramatically improved. I remember thinking at the time “Okay–how much better am I, really?” And my self assessment was that I was easily 80% better. I had no pain at all. And I was much more flexible, being able to bend forward without the stiffness that had made me so cautious all the time. I was also able to lift and carry heavy bags of salt without any fear of inflaming my back and ending up with a couple days of pain.
His personal experience with FSM prompted Dr. Mittag to train with Dr. Carolyn McMakin and become certified as an FSM practitioner. He treated patients using FSM for a number of years in his clinic. When he closed his clinic in 2020 and transitioned to a functional medicine / telemedicine practice, his desire to continue providing FSM to clients prompted him to set up a service wherein clients can purchase FSM units he prescribes.
