Instructions On Using Inspirstar Units
When Using TENS Electrical Pads – Pad Placement
There are three videos at the bottom of this page that show you how to use the Inspirstar ISO2BA, IS)2LCDs and ISO2Pros, respectively.
Immediately below are instructions and diagrams on different ways to place the pads. Remember that generally speaking you are arranging the pads to that the current flows through the affected area, when applicable.
Understanding Current Flow With Inspirstar Units
All true FSM units contain two channels which operate simultaneously. Channel one runs one frequency and the channel two runs a different frequency. The goal of pad placement in FSM treatments is to cross the currents. Another way of saying this is: the goal of pad placement is to make an “X” with the two different channels.
Start by plugging the red lead plug into the red socket and the blue lead plug into the blue socket on the top of your unit. The red lead has red and yellow lead pins. The blue lead has blue and green lead pins.
See the picture below. Current travels from the red pad to the blue pad (channel 1—black line in picture) and from the yellow pad to the gree pad (channel 2—white line in picture). With regard to pad placement on the body you are crossing the current through the affected part by making an “X” with the pads.
You don’t have to be too concerned about getting the pads just right. In reality the current spreads out through the tissues and does not flow in distinct straight lines. When treating an injured are, do your best to get the pads on either side of the injury so that the current flow crosses at the injured area. For many conditions placing pads on the back of the neck and the abdomen or lower legs is more than sufficient and will produce excellent results.
REMEMBER: YOU HAVE TO BE WELL HYDRATED FOR BEST RESULTS.
Pad Placement #1: For Full Body Treatment
The FSM unit has four pads from two wires.
Wire #1 is plugged into the red jack on the middle of the top of the unit. Wire #1 has a red and a yellow pin going to each of two pads. Wire #2 is plugged into the blue jack on the middle of the top of the unit. Wire #2 has a green and a blue pin going to each of two pads.
For the full body treatment place the pad from the red pin on the left side of the neck and the pad from the yellow pin on the right side of the neck. Then place the pad from the green pin on the left ankle or foot, or on the left side of the abdomen (below the belly button on the left side). Place the pad from the blue pin on the right ankle or foot, or on the right side of the abdomen (below the belly button on the right side).
Pad Placement #2: For Treating The Lower Extremities
To treat both of the lower extremities place the red and yellow pads on the soles of one foot or on the outside of one ankle. Put the blue and green pads on the sole of the other foot or on the outside of the other ankle.
Pad Placement #3: For Treating The Torso & Visceral Organs
Pad placement for treating the visceral organs of the body is often done with two pads on the back of the neck and two pads on the abdomen. The rule for pad placement is to criss-cross the two circuits. One circuit runs from the red pad to the blue pad. The other circuit runs from the yellow pad to the green pad.
Pad Placement #4: Treating Local Areas (For Joints, Injuries, Local Problems)
To treat a specific area, like the left knee in the example to the right the two circuits are criss-crossed through the knee joint. The red pad is placed on the inside of the front of the knee with the yellow pad on the outside of the front of the knee. The blue pad is placed across from and opposite the red pad or on the outside of the back of the left knee. The green pad is placed criss-cross to the yellow pad which is on the inside of the back of the left knee. See the diagram to the right.
Pad Placement #5: Treating Nerves In Upper and Lower Extremities
To treat nerve pain or dysfunction in the upper and lower extremities you place two pads on the spine (either the back of the neck or the low back) and two pads on the hand or foot of the affected limb. The pads on the hands and feet will go wherever you experience the pain. For example if you are experiencing pain radiating through the arm into the thumb and palm of the hand you would put the pads on the palm over the thumb and center of the palm. And similarly for the leg and feet.
Using Moist Towels As Electrical Pads
Instead of TENS pads you can also use moist towels as electrodes. When doing so you will need two towels. Use alligator clips connected to each of the four leads. Connect the red and blue leads to one towel and the yellow and green leads to the second towel. Sandwich the body part you are treating between the towels (ie on the lower abdomen and on the middle of the low back to treat low back pain).
Using Gloves As Electrical Pads
Instead of TENS pads you can also use gloves as electrodes. When doing so you will need two gloves or a glove and a towel. Use the snap leads to connect to the two gloves. Or use a snap lead and an alligator clips lead to connect to a glove and a moist towel. Sandwich the body part you are treating between the gloves or between a glove and a moist towel (ie on the lower abdomen and on the middle of the low back to treat low back pain).
